VERVE 2015- Rules & Regulations

Date of preliminary round: 27-29 July, 2015, 2.30 p.m.-3.30 p.m.

Recitation

• Participants can recite one English poem. Duration of the recitation is one minute.
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best three will be selected for the final round.

Story Telling

• Participants can narrate a story in English. Duration of the narration is two minutes.
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best three will be selected for the final round.

Painting/ Clay Modelling

• All the students of this category are expected to take part in either Painting or Clay Modelling

Solo Dance

• Students can select any song for the dance. Duration of the dance should be 4 minutes.
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best one will be selected for the final round.

Fancy Dress

No preliminary round.

Elocution

• A passage given by the school must be used for elocution.
• Participants must learn the passage by heart and must deliver it fluently with proper intonation and gesture.
• The best three will be selected for the final round.

Album Making, Best out of waste, Greeting card making

• All the students of this category must compulsorily take part in one of the art and craft activities.
• The theme for the activities will be communicated to the students on the day of the competition.

Creative Writing

• No preliminary round will be conducted.
• Topics will be announced on the spot with a preparation time of 20 minutes and writing time of 45 minutes.
• The write- up should not exceed 300 words.

Speech about a great person

• Participants can select the life of any great personality for the competition.
• The duration of the speech must be 2 minutes.
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best three will be selected for the final round.

Solo Dance

• Participants can select any song for the dance. Duration of the dance should be 4 minutes.
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best one will be selected for the final round.

Solo Song

• Participants can select songs in any language of their preference.
• Karaoke is compulsory.
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best one will be selected for the final round.

Declamation

• Any motivational speech delivered by great men/women can be taken for the declamation. It must be in English. Duration of the declamation is 1 minute.
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best three will be selected for the final round.

Poster Making / Vegetable Carving / Mehandi / Working Model / Rangoli

• All the students of this category must compulsorily take part in one the art and craft activities.
• The theme for the activities will be communicated to the students on the day of the competition.
• All the materials required for the competition must be brought by the participants.
• Working Model: A team of three can take part in this competition

• A team of 6 can take part in it.
• Time limit is one and half minutes. The best one team will be selected for the final round.
• Theme for the preliminary round: Magical pen

Drama

• Any one scene from The Merchant of Venice can be selected for the English Drama
• Duration is 6-10 minutes
• Preliminary rounds will be conducted class-wise by the class teachers.
• The best one team will be selected for the final round.

Cooking without fire

• No preliminary round.
• All the materials required for the competition must be brought by the participants.
